Hard bounce
Refers to those delivery failures that occurred because the recipients' email address was not working. For a hard bounce, the returning Web server returns a 500 series error, such as User unknown.

HTML
Hyper Text Markup Language. Hypertext Markup Language is a formatting language used for documents on the World Wide Web. HTML files are plain text files with formatting Codes that tell browsers such as the Netscape Navigator how to display text, position graphics and form items, and display links to other pages. Email System generates html for you when you use its templates and web editor, or you can provide your own html.

Mail merge
Mail Merge allows you to substitute generic settings (i.e. {{{firstname}}}, {{{addressline1}}} ) within your message with subscriber specific demographics (Jim, 429 F St. Suite 3) generated by your subscriber database

Opt-in
Email that is explicitly requested by the recipient. Unlike spam promotional e-mails that get sent out to large lists of recipients without regard to whether or not they want the information, opt-in e-mails are only sent to people who specifically request them.
